Billing and Insurance
Reconstructive Surgery
Reconstructive surgical procedures are generally covered by most health insurance plans, although many insurance companies will require both the patient and physician to submit a considerable amount of documentation before agreeing to pay for covered services. We do participate with Medicare and some commercial carriers, and work with all insurance companies to obtain coverage. For commercial carriers, we will work with you to submit documents and requests to your insurance company. We are acutely aware that many patients have great financial difficulties (often compounded with injury and loss of income), and we will work with you to help you. Although we have to run a business, we are physicians whose ultimate goal is to care for you.
Cosmetic Surgery
Cosmetic (aesthetic) surgery is generally not covered by insurance. For surgeries performed at a hospital or surgery center, there are generally three separate fees: a professional (surgeon’s) fee, a facility (hospital) fee, and an anesthesiologist’s fee. In addition, there is a charge for any implant that is used. We only work with those surgical facilities and anesthesiologists that offer the highest levels of quality and safety, and have found facilities that offer this high level of service at reasonable prices. However we will not compromise quality or safety for price.
